In January, FYF founder Pari Ibrahim traveled to Duhok with a leading Dutch news program, Brandpunt, as well as a post-trauma specialist from the United Kingdom to conduct a fact-finding assessment for the establishment of the FYF women’s centre and children’s centre. FYF is currently finalising the details of its coordination with an international team of post-trauma experts set to begin providing on-site treatment later this year. During the visit, FYF also distributed approximately $2,500 in aid, including shoes, blankets, food, and small toys for children and families on Mount Sinjar and in Xanke refugee camp, and financial assistance to ten women who escaped from ISIS.

In February, FYF formally named board and senior staff members. The FYF centers will open later this year, providing support to those who have suffered the most. Post-trauma experts are now working on a detailed report, in conjunction with FYF, to outline therapeutic strategies for the short and long term. For more information or to offer your support, please visit www.freeyezidi.org.
