COVID-19 Prevention Information

9-13 March 2020, Khanke, Iraq: As the COVID-19 pandemic affects daily life in the camps and the ability of organizations to provide services and training, FYF temporarily pivots to a focus on health awareness and providing essential health and cleaning supplies. Currently, the camps are not infected with COVID-19, but the possibility could put hundreds of thousands of people at serious risk. Sanitation supplies, clean water, and adequate conditions are severely lacking, and health services will not be able to manage an outbreak. FYF therefore focused on prevention by distributing information pamphlets and emphasized WHO recommendations such as consistent use of soap and washing hands and the importance of sanitation and cleanliness, reaching over 400 families with this information in the first days. Next phases will include distribution of cleaning and health items, such as masks, soaps, and cleaning supplies.
