Suicide in Khanke IDP Camp

17 September 2020, Khanke, Iraq

Yesterday in Khanke IDP camp we saw the flames. Help came too late. We lost this Yezidi mother to suicide. 6 years have passed and her missing family members did not return. More Yezidis commit suicide. This must end. We need to take action for suicide prevention. When the world thinks of aid and reconstruction for Yezidis, it is important that an element of all aid packages includes mental healthcare and psychological treatment. Electricity, roads, and buildings will not help if people are too traumatized

Support our work!

FYF works to support the most vulnerable members of the Yezidi community by providing them with education, economic empowerment, post-trauma treatment, and access to justice. If you want your donations to have a real impact on the lives of women and children affected by conflict, please consider giving to FYF today.
